Artist Bio: Marilyn Turner

Marilyn Turner - Hostahill Studio

Born and raised in Kitchener, Ontario, Marilyn has always had an enthusiasm for many types of art, but she was continually drawn to watercolour paintings, which soon became her passion.

Her dream was to one day have the opportunity to study, learn and create paintings of her own in this genre. In 1996 an opportunity to do just that presented itself. Marilyn and her husband purchased a business in the Haliburton area, and before moving she took her first art course at Sheridan College in Oakville.

This only deepened her desire to paint and in 2003 after a successful business career she retired, finally giving her the chance to follow her artistic dream full time.

Her enrollment at the Haliburton School of Arts was just the beginning. Over the years she has studied with some very well known Canadian and American watercolorists. As well she has travelled to southern France to take plein air courses with Art Cunanan, one of her favorite instructors. Her paintings hang in homes across Canada as well as England.
